Margarita Azul in Wilkes-Barre

Small footprint with big flavors. I have only had their tacos so far, there are 7 or 8 varieties, but they were flavorful and filling. I have sat at the bar and at a table and the service was amazing at both. They do have an outdoor area, unfortunately it was raining the last time I was there so that was a no-go. Prices are reasonable for the portions served. I'll definitely go here again some time soon.

Great....both the drinks and food! Really enjoyed the my first couple visits as some of the other well known Mexican restaurants in the area has lost some of its appeal over time.

From NY we had some good authentic comida Mexicano, we tried it after moving in the area and we are blown away. So far what we've ordered has been delicious and fresh, and the frozen margarita priced very well especially for the size! Haven't eaten in since the pandemic but will eventually!

Parking limited, secluded to the streets. The street is well lite and the walk is minimal. There is a ramp in the rear to make it easy for disabled people. You are acknowledge as soon as you walk in, allowing you to feel their comfortable surrounding. The servers are on point and attentive. The food is hot from the kitchen, just the way you like to. The taste is good and the portion are fair. Speaking of fair, the prices are fair as well. I know we can't control our environment/customer but some of the local thugs visit and hang for a spell. No worries, the owner stays vigilant to everyone's need. Overall, this is a good safe stop to enjoy some great soup...

Margaritas were good but could not get a fresh one. Only had one dish but the mole sauce was good.

Waited over an hour for our food, which had tough steak, gross, tasteless beans and dry rice. I tried this place twice, but I'm definitely done now.

I enjoyed the drinks and the food was good. I had the shrimp fajita, it was good but they served it with rice and beans instead of soft tortillas and others ingredients.. Fiance had the chimichanga and he liked it!!!

Had drinks while we waited for our take out order. Had a coconut margarita & a mojito....sooo good. The food was great. Exactly what we ordered. Large portions. Sauces/sour cream alrdy included in the pkgs w/o being requested. Ready in about 15 to 20 min. Not cheap ingredients like taco bell but not expensive prices. Definitely recommend.

The atmosphere on the patio in the back is really great, drinks were reasonably priced, and food was OK; however, the service was slow. I'm usually very understanding and patient, but my experience here definitely tested that. Waited for 15 min just to get a server to acknowledge us and once we ordered waited at least half an hour for our food. Apparently there was an issue with the grill - it would have been nice to have this communicated proactively instead of having to flag down someone to figure out what was going on after waiting for a while. Even to get drinks and such was unusually slow. So overall atmosphere and food was good but just wish the service was more attentive

A great place to enjoy some authentic Mexican food. Every time we visit we are welcomed by friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed making it easy to spend time here. They offer a wide variety of tequila which can be ordered in flights allowing you to try things you may never have had before. They don’t offer draft beer but do offer many bottled options.

Food is much much better than the "other" place in town. Staff is typically very attentive and you rarely have to wait long for anything even when it's busy. I'd recommend reservations for busy times. It gets very busy at peak times.

Are you kidding me.... Food was AWESOME as always. We love it here. The food is always great and Traci and Brenda are the best. Fajitas and the Seafood chimichanga are to die for.

My daughter, grandson and I decided to eat here last Saturday. Me not being very big on Mexican cuisine I was not really thrilled about going as I'm not big on anything with refried beans, or spicy seasonings. So looking over the menu the only thing that caught my eye was their Chicken Caesar salad, so I decided to order it. I was very pleasantly surprised at how tasty the salad was. What ever the seasoning was that they put on the chicken it was a delight to my taste buds. Our waitress Naomi was very curtious also and checked our table several times throughout our meal. All in all it was a very pleasant experience us. :)

Food was amazing, service sucked. Asked our waitress 3 times to bring the complementary chips and salsa...still nothing so finally flagged down someone else. Tried to order guacamole, they were out...on a Saturday, in the summer! Not impressed.

Watched it grow from the ground up, same taste same service. Great job Roy

The outside patio is just perfect! There are umbrellas so no blazing sun and there is plenty of space! The food was excellent as always and the margaritas better than ever! Nice place to meet friends!

The food at Margarita Azul is great and so are the drinks! The beer bucket is a good value for the price. I particularly enjoy the fajitas. They can accomodate large parties. The few negatives include slow service at times and the restaurant not having a good way of splitting bills. Minor issues in my opinion. This restaurant can get quite busy on peak days, so call ahead and get your reservation.

Called at 8:15pm on Saturday to asked what time they were open until. Girl responded 9:30pm, I said great, I will call you back in a few minutes to place my order for pick up.Called back 3 minutes later to place my order and the girl responded that they were not taking and more orders for pick up. No problem, there are plenty of other local places where I can spend my money, Margarita Azul has lost a customer.This is not the first time I have encountered an issue with this establishment, just really disappointing.

They are open until 2200, yet I just called at 1720 and they aren't taking orders because it overwhelms the staff?? How? You can't dine in thanks to rona. Amazing food but you can never order it. Find a new Spanish food joint.

The food is very good although a bit overpriced. The staff has always been excellent, kind and efficient each of the three times we have visited. Our main issue is the clientele that frequents the bar. Each time we have dined here there have been 2-3 guys drinking and doing shots at the bar (at least one of them works there). They frequently curse with no regard to my wife or 5 year old son sitting with us. The staff is friendly with these gentlemen and have never redirected them once for their language. While we enjoy the food and the staff is kind to us, we have decided we will no longer be going back to this restaurant.

Food is good but prices are a little high and also sat down why waiting for food had a drink and was double charged for it and when I pointed out my bill was 40 for one drink and casadea they like scattered and couldnt take 7 off the bill correctly or couldnt count I'm sorry but I hope this ain't happening often when patrons are not paying attention!!!

I've ranked two other Mexican restaurants one and two in Wilkes-Barre but this is just something completely different and I don't consider it in the same class it's a great stop although it's not your typical Mexican restaurant so if you're looking for something different this is the place to go with good Mexican Cuisine

Great find! Love this place for good Mexican food and margaritas. The chips and salsa is delicious and fresh. They have unique margaritas. My boyfriend likes the garden margarita that has a jalapeno flavor and I could drink the coconut at any time. The food is also delicious!!! Yum. Now I'm salivating....

A very peaceful and lovely out door patio. Someplace good to go during the madness...and perhaps afterwards.

very expensive for unimpressive food I've been to central america countries and SW AZ NM and TX..never had that kind of chili dip for salsa chips. I asked for black beans to substitute for rice and they said they had brown beans and they came not as pastey but in a soup bowl??

I think, One of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in this area. 2 rounds of Marguerite's. appetizer and entree. For under $30 apiece.. Very good food and service..

While the food and atmosphere were nice, the service was an issue. Several times we saw food being delivered to the wrong tables and our food took over an hour. When it did arrive we had no flatware and I had to go to the bar to get drink refills. The fish was extremely dry and way over done and there was not enough in the whole meal. The menu seems to have a great variety and stuff I would like to try I don't think we will return. Hoeever, I did like the fresh pick de gallo and chips. There were a number of unattended children throwing rocks and bending the branches of the trees, so sad to see careless parents completly oblivious of proper discipline and correct social behavior.

The food in this hole in the wall is absolutely amazing. It always super fresh, quick and friendly. They have a huge selection of tequila and delicious beverages. If you haven’t been here I highly suggest taking up the chance.

Just stopped in for breakfast. Food was great, nothing else like it locally. I had the huevos rancheros.

Ordered at noon on Cinco de Mayo for 6:15pm pickup. Had never been there but heard very good things. Got there at six for what we were told was "curbside pickup". That entailed standing outside on the sidewalk with limited space. Thank God everyone was mindful of social distancing. By 7pm, we were told it would still be at least 30 more minutes before our food was ready. The woman courteously canceled our order, but could not recoup our time. The group was disappointed they had not been more forthright with how long our wait would be. Unfortunately, despite our love of Mexican food, we will not be returning.

Margarita Azul is a little gem set back off the main roads in Wilkes-Barre. The word 'authentic' comes to mind when considering their selection of Mexican cuisine. Here, you'll find yourself in a quaint, clean atmosphere with Spanish music and a full bar selection with enough imported spirits and beers to suit any taste. It's really the whole package, and is usually a quiet environment to boot.The food itself has never disappointed, and even caters to the more American taste with a "Wings and Things" section of the menu. The meats are fresh, the tortillas and tacos are fresh, the veggies are fresh, and the combination of the three are something worth experiencing. It is tucked away a bit, but if you're looking for a good Mexican 'Hole in the Wall' type stop, this is your place.

Delicious! The fajitas and mojitos were fantastic!

Our waitress was AWESOME but the food was terrible. Came out at all different times for 4 different people. We usually love Margarita Azul but it was not great this time around.

Usually really good but recently these are the "shrimp tacos". Nothing at all but pieces of old shrimp & these cost extra. Hopefully they get back to how good they used to be!

The food is always great!! I realize they just reopened, they were out of something that we ordered, and I think our order may have gotten lost...took super long to get our food! It was very good when it came tho!!
